 Information Security Undergraduate Scholarship - $5,000 – 20 Awards (Deadline: March 1, 2019) To be eligible for the scholarship a student must: A) Be pursuing, or plan to pursue, a degree with a focus on cybersecurity or information assurance.  KFC REACH Educational Grant Program - $3,000 - 50 Awards (Deadline: March 28, 2019) To be eligible for the scholarship a student must: A) Plan on attending school during the 2019/2020 school year. Beyond the Cure Ambassador Scholarship - $3,500 - 40 Awards (Deadline: March 31, 2019) To be eligible for the scholarship a student must: A) Be a childhood cancer survivor who has demonstrated the ability to overcome the difficult challenges of cancer with determination and motivation. University of the Aftermarket Foundation Scholarship - $10,000 - 80 Awards (Deadline: Mar 31, 2019) To be eligible for the scholarship a student must: A) Be a graduating high school senior. Governors School of Entrepreneurship 9th, 10th, and 11-grade students

We are looking for innovative students who believe they have an idea that might be valuable. Applicants should show a passion for creating a product or idea and possess a learning style that will thrive in a creative and innovative environment. We also need students with computer and programming skills, building skills, an engineering background, business skills, creative minds, and the willingness to take a chance to succeed. In other words, we are looking for students who may be studying in your programs! We do not expect a student to have all the skills listed; those are the skills we hope to have on each team.

Please note that there is no grade-point requirement to participate in this outstanding program; however, students completing GSE who earn specific merit badges and who have a 3.0 minimum grade-point average may earn up to six hours of college credit. Marshall University Grant Due March 1

The Maier Stem Educator Scholarship was created to increase the number of highly qualified STEM middle school and high school teachers in West Virginia. Four students will be chosen for the 2019-20 academic year, and renewed for the following 3 years. The annual scholarship will be $15,000 for tuition, housing and other costs; a stipend of up to $1,500 for a laptop; and funding for a study abroad or student exchange experience. A total scholarship package of $71,000 maximum over a four-year period will be awarded. This amount may be adjusted based upon other financial aid opportunities. Selection Criteria: ? First Time Freshman ? West Virginia Resident ? 3.5 High School GPA or greater on a 4.0 scale ? 26 ACT Composite or SAT Equivalent ? Admission to College of Education and Professional Development (COEPD) and enrolled in an eligible COEPD Major —Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology or General Science ? Applicant must be willing to teach for four years following graduation in West Virginia, preferably in the southern counties.

Guy B and Mabel Lykins Scholarship  -    Seniors

Each year Lykins awards area high school seniors $500 scholarships who have maintained a GPA of 3.0 and who are involved in community service. 

Seniors who are interested need to complete the application that can be picked up in the B-UHS counseling department.

Also needed is a letter of recommendation from and teacher and one from a community member.

Betty Jean Wimer Education Scholarship - Teaching Career

This program in designed by Kappa Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority as a support to a student who attends Lewis County High School or Buckhannon-Upshur High School and whose career goal is to become a teacher.

WV Desk & Derrick Club Scholarship - Energy Industry


A copy of the student's high school transcript with ACT or SAT scores

An original essay of at least 300 words

A discussion of the applicant's history of leadership or service

At least one letter of recommendation from someone other than a relative

Application must be signed by applicant's guidance counselor or principal

Upshur County Association of Retired School Employees Technical/Vocational Scholarship Application - $1,000

B-UHS Senior with GPA 3.0 or higher that plans to pursue technical/vocational training at an accredited facility.

Examples: Fred Eberle Technical Center, WV Business College, Clarksburg Beauty Academy, OIC Training, ETC.

Upshur County Association of Retired School Employees Future Educator Scholarship Application - $1,000

B-UHS Senior with GPA 3.0 or higher that plans to pursue a teaching career by attending a traditional college or university.

High School seniors and graduates living in sites managed by Michaels or its affiliates may apply for scholarship grants for the 2019-2020 academic year, totaling at least $500,000 to be awarded in June 2019.

This grant is expressly to assist high school senior students living in Michael's properties through out he nation. In our area, Valley Green is managed by The Michaels Organization Educational. If you live in Valley Green you are eligible to apply. Application is attached.

Scholarship Program for School Year 2018-2019


The Mary Anne Crites Scholarship Program was created to honor

a wonderful woman who taught at Buckhannon-Upshur High School

for 42 years.  She mentored many young people during her tenure.


Program Eligibility and Criteria for Scholarship:


  1. The student must be a graduating senior at Buckhannon-Upshur High School.
  2. The student has a financial need.
  3. Each student receiving a scholarship is required to write a one-page essay of their future goals and financial need.
  4. A Thank you note or card with a personal note is to be written to Mary Anne Crites within one week of receiving scholarship.  Her address will be provided.

Scholarship Application will be provided by the Counseling Department at Buckhannon-Upshur High School.  Please complete and turn in application by March 1, 2019.


St. Joseph's Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship Guidelines

Applications for St. Joseph's Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship are available for the fall 2019 academic year.
Application forms are available in the Buckhannon-Upshur High School Counselor's Office or at the information desk in the main lobby at St. Joseph's Hospital.
