Dear Boosters, The meeting with the WVDE on Tuesday evening brought about further discussion regarding items related to the establishment of non-profit groups outside of the schools in West Virginia. I have had a deeper conversation regarding some items I was not aware of when those groups became established, including what happens to the funds you have already spent countless hours raising for the support of our students. I now understand what we are asking, would not permit those funds to be transferred to your group and this is not fair to the hours you have spent or those who have donated to support your organization. Because of this we are going to stop our efforts to remove the booster groups from the school. I take full responsibility for this turnaround in my decision. The schools and counties I have served in were ones where these groups operated outside of the school, and I was moving towards that based on my previous experience. I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you as we attempt to implement county policies to keep the system in good standing financially. If your group has already asked for permission to operate as a separate booster group outside of the school, please know we will still seek approval to operate in that manner. Sincerely, Christy Miller, Superintendent

Dear Senior Parents, It has come to the attention of Upshur County School officials and school administration that some senior parents are upset with the enforcement of Upshur County Board Policy 4006 related to attendance and not being released early to work. Mrs. Miller the state appointed superintendent has offered to meet with this group on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. in the school auditorium. She will have a copy of the policy available so as we walk through it together a better understanding will be developed around the many parts of this policy updated on March 21, 2023, by the Upshur County Board of Education.
